ABSTRACT:
Insulin resistance and chronic hyperglycemia are the main causes of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), a significant global health concern. Nutraceuticals made from traditional herbs and spices have garnered a lot of attention lately due to their potential for managing diabetes and regulating metabolism. This analysis highlights the bioactive components and antidiabetic qualities of four commonly used culinary powders: fenugreek, cinnamon, ginger, and cardamom. Soluble fibre and 4-hydroxyisoleucine, which promote glycaemic management and insulin sensitivity, are abundant in fenugreek. Cinnamonaldehyde and associated compounds found in cinnamon may increase insulin receptor activation and promote the absorption of glucose. Because of its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, ginger improves insulin secretion and lowers oxidative stress. Although it has not been studied as much, cardamom has the potential to reduce blood glucose and modify lipid metabolism. When taken as a whole, these nutraceutical powders show promise as supplemental dietary approaches for managing and preventing type 2 diabetes. However, additional carefully planned clinical trials are necessary to verify their therapeutic efficacy, identify the best doses, and create safety profiles.
