ABSTRACT:
Crude drugs form the backbone of traditional systems of medicine and continue to serve as vital raw materials for modern pharmaceuticals. Based on their morphological characteristics and method of preparation, crude drugs are broadly classified into organized and unorganized drugs. This review provides a comprehensive, structured, and academic overview of organized and unorganized drugs, including their definitions, sources, classification, examples, and methods of identification, quality control parameters, advantages, limitations, and pharmaceutical significance. The review also highlights the relevance of this classification in Pharmacognosy education, herbal drug standardization, and contemporary drug development.
